It worked on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS, so whether we were in the office working on our MacBooks, at a coffee shop browsing on our smartphones, or at home with our Windows PC, we had access to Hotspot Shield. We’ve been able to log in using our Hotspot Shield account using five different devices. It’s a win-win: Hotspot Shield earns extra cash to support its free VPN service, and you get unlimited opportunities to extend your free VPN. A 15- to 30-second ad gives you an extra 15 minutes of Hotspot Shield use. On the bright side, Hotspot Shield gives smartphone users the option to surpass the daily data limit by watching ads. Unfortunately, your remaining data allowance will not carry over to the next day, so use it all up or it goes poof! If you max out your daily allowance, that’s a total of about 15 GB per month. That wasn’t much, but it was quite generous compared to other free VPNs. Hotspot Shield let us surf the web for free with our 500 MB daily data limit.
